WU is an acronym for the Economic University Vienna which moved all her institutes and organisations to a new built campus since 2013. Not only employees and students of this institution enjoy using the facilities at this high class sight, a lot of people interested in architecture visit it every day. The idea for the textile project WU was born during a photography workshop for architecture at the site. Various well known architects helped to make this place into a futuristic and modern venue. A lot of interesting materials, shapes and objects artistically interact near exhibition halls and train stations in Vienna’s second district. Extravagant materials like oxidising metal stand beside spaceship inspired white buildings.

Especially the parametric designs of the architect Zaha Hadid influenced the computer generated prints of this collection. Lines and shapes appear arbitrary but have a background full of complex computer calculations like Hadid’s library building for the Economic University. The sloping shapes of the indoor area sometimes cause visitor‘s dizziness. Floor plans, windows and other parts of the area were used in abstract ways to create the geometrical patterns.

The Teaching Centre, planned by BUSarchitektur ZT GmbH, owns a very popular position along the boulevard through the complexes. It’s bright shades also rule the colour palette of this project. Rusty oranges and warm browns are combined with a chilly blue- grey to create a well balanced modern atmosphere.

The digitally printed cotton fabrics are quilted to create a soft and comfortable surface for upholstering, silencers or warm jackets. Experimental screen printing techniques were used on rough cotton and silk which could be used for tablecloth, curtains or working clothes for sophisticated customers.

Shaky Geometries mirrors the impressions from a curious student at the new WU Campus. It shows strict ordered geometrics filled with warm earthy shades prised open by the cooling blue-grey of the sky above the invitingly outdoor space between the constructions. It catches the atmosphere and idea of this place of learning and encountering.
